Our Story

Mark's early childhood was spent in a very remote village on the west coast of Vancouver Island. His family lived in a large town of about 50 people before moving to a smaller town of 11 people. But when he was 11 years old, his family moved to Mexico City, which at that time had a population of 8.5 million. Mark completed his primary and high school in Mexico, in Spanish, then moved north to attend LeTourneau College in Longview, Texas.

Lois was born in Kansas and moved to Colorado when she was 5 years old. Her father was a preacher and, with seven children, they learned to live frugally. Lois, along with her four sisters, learned to make their own clothes. Following her brother and two sister, Lois also attended LeTourneau College. She did not complete her degree there, but years later, after having four children, she completed her nurse's training and has had a full and interesting career as a nurse.

Mark and Lois met at LeTourneau and married in April of 1969.  Both had a strong desire to serve as missionaries wherever God led them.  After finishing school and starting a family, Mark and Lois joined Gospel Recordings and served in downtown Los Angeles and in southern Mexico.

After a few years there, they felt the call to work with Muslims.  So, with four children, Mark and Lois began a new ministry in a Muslim country.  After a fruitful term, family issues unexpectedly kept them home for several years.  When they were able to return, they moved to a different city.  Their ministry included one-on-one Bible studies, technical work, radio and media ministry, disaster work, and hospitality.  Mark trained one local Christian who continues to minister to a difficult people group.  He is currently providing technical assistance and spiritual guidance for a new ministry.

Through the years Mark and Lois have made their home in five countries and visited 28 different countries. They are now settled in USA but have friends around the globe.
